Q1) What is this game being made in?
It's being made in Game Maker Studio 1.4.
Q2) What is the music made in?
I use LMMS. It gets the job done lol. This is the first time I've tried to make an OST all on my own.
Q3) How long has this game been in development?
Technically the project started in 2018, but it didn't actually become "DoodleTrip" until early 2019. Here's what the very first version of DoodleTrip looked like (February 14th, 2019):
Q4) When you do you plan on releasing the game fully?
I'm not really sure yet. I'd like to think 2022, maybe 2023 at the latest.
Q5) Will you be doing a Kickstarter for this game?
Currently there's no plans for one, but if an opportunity presents itself where working on DoodleTrip full-time would be possible, then who knows!
Q6) Will there be a demo?
Yup! I'm hoping to release it sometime next year!
Q7) Are there any plans for translations?
Not at the moment. If this changes I'll make an announcement about it.
Q8) Do you have any other projects besides DoodleTrip?
I do! You can find them on my GameJolt page (the link is at the bottom of the page, just click the GameJolt icon). I'm currently working on an Undertale fan-game called "Don't Forget" alongside this game.
Q9) Will you port DoodleTrip to Mac, Linux, consoles, etc.?
Right now I can only promise a Windows release. I'm definitely looking into releasing on Mac and Linux as well. Consoles probably not, but who knows!
Q10) Will you release DoodleTrip on Steam?
That's the plan! I'll probably also release the game on GameJolt and itch.io.
Q11) What inspired you to make DoodleTrip?
There's a lot of things! The main inspirations behind the game are my own memories of childhood. I wanted to be an illustrator originally, so I spent most of my time drawing every day. I was a huge fan of Dav Pilkey's "Captain Underpants" book series growing up, and it was a big influence on my style. My grandparents are another inspiration, they encouraged me to keep writing and drawing, and thanks to them I'll probably never stop creating stuff! In terms of gameplay/design, DoodleTrip is inspired by Undertale, OneShot, Paper Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, and even Petscop.
Q12) Can you make a tutorial on how to do [game idea] in Game Maker?
I'm definitely not the best when it comes to Game Maker, but I have a few old tutorials on my YouTube channel that might interest you. I don't plan on making new tutorials anytime soon, though. Maybe one of these days.
